The Jimmy Pratt Foundation

The Jimmy Pratt Foundation focuses on strategic research rather than chequebook philanthropy so that programs are built on partnerships rather than solely on funding.

We seek opportunities that demonstrate proactive and creative responses to the status quo for youth at risk, where intervention is anchored in research, and where support programs empower people.

We seek partnerships that are evidence-based, that benefit children in Newfoundland and Labrador and that have the support of other entities, be they academic, social or public organizations and institutions.

The Foundation will also consider direct funding to help establish projects/initiatives in the areas of childhood health, resilience education and practice, and collaborative projects that prioritize children and their needs. Projects that traverse multiple disciplines, evidence collaboration and co-operation, and address diversity will be preferred.

While the Foundation has been established through private funds, any future donors or contributors to the Fund can be advised that 95% of the Foundation's resources will go directly to projects and programs.

We fund projects that promote resiliency in order to enhance the life circumstances of children and youth at risk and improve outcomes for a better future.

The Jimmy Pratt Foundation, a private family foundation, was established in 2010 to contribute toward projects and programs that support a healthy, inclusive and resilient society while helping youth at risk. In keeping with the Foundation's mission, we encourage the advancement of the health, education, and security of children from birth to 18 years of age, and their families.

Childhood resilience is our main focus. Our purpose is the advancement, collaboration and dissemination of research to educate the community and inform intervention.

We believe that knowledge and awareness are the keys to change. We therefore support the generation of new knowledge to inform effective programs and the creation of innovative projects that demonstrate how to support resiliency in youth and others.

We are a family foundation built on a legacy of inclusion and caring. There is potential for resilience in all of us. We want to help make this a reality for everyone.
