Nickel Independent Film Festival

The week-long festival is in June each year. Screenings, special events, workshops, and film challenges, are thru the year. Submissions open in September.

The Nickel Independent Film Festival was conceived in St. John's by filmmaker Roger Maunder. Inspired by a need for local filmmakers to show and celebrate their films, the Nickel Festival was named after the Nickel Theatre - the first theatre in Newfoundland and Labrador to show talking pictures.

Screening local, Canadian and international shorts, the Nickel also offers workshops, Q&A's with filmmakers, and networking and social events.
